Reading: This week our weekly concept is “How does weather affect us?” We will be learning about different types of weather and severe weather.

Spelling:  The Spelling concept for this time is long vowel E spelled with e, ee, ea, ie, y, and ey. The Spelling test is this week Thursday, February 16.

High Frequency Words (sight words):  By the end of the unit, your child should be able to read these words quickly and easily. Please post this letter in a handy spot (on the fridge, etc.) and have your child practice reading through these words a couple of times each day.

Vocabulary: We are learning the meaning of these words. Please use these words in conversation with your child and ask him/her to tell you what they mean.

Jump Rope for Heart: Your child may bring shorts to change into for this event tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb. 15).

They are encouraged to bring a water bottle with PLAIN WATER ONLY!

Field Trip Reminder: Tuesday, February 21. Remember outdoor clothing and a sack lunch for our all day field trip.

Reminders for a busy week!

     Monday, February 13 is Library day! Tuesday, February 14 is our Valentine's Day party. I am attaching the note I sent home with student names in case you have misplaced it and your child still needs to do their valentines. Wednesday, February 15 is Jump Rope for Heart in the morning. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for physical activity. Tennis shoes are a MUST! Our Spelling test will be on Thursday, February 16. Your child should have brought home the words over a week ago. Just in case you need it, here are the words:  we, bee, need, queen, mean, leaf, chief, thief, pony, keys, grow, toe, after, every, special.

     Your student has a four day President's Day weekend due to teacher inservice on Friday, February 17 and President's Day on Monday, February 20.

     Our field trip to Kettunen Center is on Tuesday, February 21. Please send in your child's permission slip and money as soon as possible. Please be sure to have it in by this Thursday, as there will not be time for collecting money and slips before we leave Tuesday morning. Also remember that this is an all day OUTDOOR field trip. Make sure your child has all the outdoor clothing they need, or they will not be allowed to go on the trip! Your child will need a sack lunch in a disposable bag or container. No glass please!

Please be sure that your child brings a valentine for each child in the class. We don’t want anyone to feel left out. Valentines can be either store bought or homemade.
