Second Grade News: November 6-14, 2017

Today we visited the Scholastic Book Fair. Your child is bringing home a “wish list” that they made today. There is an order form for you to fill out if you want to purchase anything. If you would like your child to buy something that is on their list, we will return to the Book Fair on Tuesday to make purchases. Please remember to add in 6% sales tax.

Reading:  For the next few weeks we will be reading about animas. Next week we will discuss the question, “How do animals survive?” We will be reading several non-fiction selections.

Spelling:  Our words next week focus on short o and long o, with the long o sound being spelled with a silent e on the end of the word.
As usual, there are two review words and three high-frequency words (sight words) as well. Spelling test is on Tuesday, November 14.

High Frequency Words (sight words):  By the end of the unit, your child should be able to read these words quickly and easily. Please post this letter in a handy spot (on the fridge, etc.) and have your child practice reading through these words a couple of times each day.
